Daedong Nori
Daedong Nori, also known as pungmul, nongak, and durae, means a solidarity/nondiscrimination
performance prepared and performed by village people in rural life as a traditional folk art.
People participated the nori as singers, dancers, instrumentalists, and actors. It is ironical to see
the performance was given in the royal palace, Gyeongbokgung,Seoul.
Jultagi
Korea's jultagi (tightrope-walking) is different from those of other countries in that it is usually
accompanied by witty/critic talks among the rope player, clown, and instrument players on things,
trifle but sensitive to folks. The rope player can use more than 40 kinds of techniques. I managed to
place the real rope at the edge of the floor to make the player look like jumping off the painted rope
behind him. National Gugak Center, Seochogu, Seoul.
